GWB has asked Congress to give him an additional $46B to fund our highly questionable endeavors in Iraq and Afghanistan. If approved, it would bring the appropriated amount of funding for the W on T to around $196B and close to $800B. By January 2009, the total could reach $1T. The human cost to date is around 4,000 American lives. God only knows how many Iraqi lives have been lost. This is to say nothing of the wounded, or the destroyed lives on all sides.
In Africa, an estimate 24.5M people have HIV. An estimated 2M Africans have died of AIDS in the last year alone.
I could go on, but you get the picture. There are great injustices in the world. Man’s inhumanity to man knows no bounds. Is there still gender bias, even in the 21st century? I’m afraid there is. In the whole scheme of things, I wonder where a child’s toy marketed to parents for girls fits in?
